The good news is that we have returned to golf.
You will have received the GUI/ILGU protocol which we all have to strictly follow, including social distancing and no contact with other players or their equipment.
However, there are course issues pertinent to Ardglass Golf Club.
They are as follows:
Arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before your tee off time. On arrival at the club you will be met at the gate by a marshal who will remind you of the following:
1 – Park allowing for social distancing
2 – Stay at your car until 5 minutes before your tee off time.
3 – The clubhouse will generally be closed with only the toilet facilities open. The locker room will only be opened on request for retrieving golf equipment, and subsequently closed.
4 – The putting green is closed.
5 – Play will be over 18 holes, at 15 minute intervals, in groups up to a maximum of 3.
Men’s golf will be off the green tees, initially for a couple of weeks.
There will be no competition golf until further notice.
Juniors may play only if they are accompanied by an adult.
6 – Go to the marked area at the Captain’s parking spot and wait until all players have left the 1st tee before leaving this area.
7 – All of the bunkers are GUR therefore drop outside of bunker within one club length of the nearest point of relief not nearer the hole.
8 – The “putt buddy” will be in place, it must be used to retrieve your golf ball from the hole. Under no circumstances should you touch the flagstick.
9 – No unnecessary delay in searching for a golf ball, drop another ball under one shot penalty, at point of entry. Do not go back to play another ball.
10 – Exercise social distancing at all times.
11 – Leave the course by way of the top gate and leave the car park without delay.
Here is the link to the short video – “Ardglass Returns to Golf”. It demonstrates the various return to golf and social distancing protocols and how the “putt buddy” must be used. – https://youtu.be/pZF7wqZ4FE0
There will be further general information issued e.g booking on line, use of sanitisers etc.
The situation is fluid and will be continually monitored. Any changes to the above will be in line with the Executive’s plan for moving out of lockdown and in accordance with the GUI/ILGU Protocol.
